Review of The Last Dragonslayer by Jasper Fforde

Book One of the Chronicles of Kazam

Fforde combines wit and literary acumen with pure silliness to create worlds I love to spend time in. This book is no exception.

Jennifer Strange and Kazam Mystical Arts Management are now part of the cast of characters permanently running around in my head. Magic and dragons and (as always) tongue-in-cheek bureaucracy at all turns make this a wonderful, quirky read during which you will laugh softly to yourself and then turn around and laugh out loud.

Do yourself a favor. Read this book.

If you are not already a Jasper Fforde fan, read this book and then go read all of his other books. You’ll be glad you did.

I give it 5 stars.

Afterthought: I didn’t realize this was a YA book when I picked it up. I just truly enjoy Jasper Fforde’s writing. And really, some of the best books are now classified as YA. I think this keeps some people from reading them. And that is a crying shame.
