Perfect for day one of NaNoWriMo.
Review of Mechanical Failure by Joe Zieja
I purchased this book on the recommendation of a friend who is an editor. When he says a book is worth reading, I pay attention. He was correct.
Also, this book is sneaky. It had a definite place in my TBR pile. Soon, but not until I had finished the four books I had already promised to read and review. It kept sneaking to the top of the pile until I gave in and read it sooner.
If you have ever been in the military or known someone who has, if you have ever worked for a large corporation or known someone who has, or if you are familiar with the concept of the Peter Principle, you will enjoy this book.
If you enjoy sarcasm, quick-witted writing, or getting odd looks from random strangers because you suddenly laugh out loud for no reason apparent to them, you will enjoy this book.
If you have absolutely no sense of humor, do not like fun, and often say that rules are there for a reason, you will most likely not enjoy this book.
The action starts early and never really stops. When I got to the last page I was ready for book two. Alas, I must wait until it is published. I will definitely be buying it. In paperback. So it can live on my bookshelf for my future reading pleasure as I am certain this series will become one of those I revisit on a regular basis.
Do yourself a favor. Buy this book. Read it soon.
